My first ACEO...but I'm keeping it!

So I tried to make an ACEO. Yes, with all good intentions I set out to make something quick that could be sold for a couple bucks on etsy. It started with a simple sketch and then ended up taking a lot longer than I had anticipated. It's my first time painting in quite a while and I think I did a pretty good job. I think it looks super cute! Now I want to make more! But any thoughts of selling it for five bucks on etsy are now out the window, heh.

Here's one for the road

I've just discovered that scanning really dark pencil can be hard because the light bounces off the lead. But this one came out okay.

Back just in time for winter!

I've been super busy lately which has resulted in a lack of posts, but now that things have let up a little I can reveal some of the pictures I've been working on. I've added some new pieces to my portfolio and I'm working on a new layout for my website. From the time I last posted, so much crazy stuff has happened- it is amazing how you can be in one place & situation and then in a completely new one in 3-4 months of time.

All of the pictures I've added were done in Illustrator, which is pretty much my new found love when it comes to coloring. I've picked a couple favorite parts of my pictures below:

It's fun to color jewelry- and I thought ^these beads^ came out pretty well. These are taken from this picture:
I like how this bag came out. I could probably tweak it a bit more, though:

Just a few favorites. Gotta love that vector art! :)

Etsy, here I come!

Yay! I just posted 5 cards onto Etsy. If you would like to purchase them, then go here: http://www.westendgirl.etsy.com/ You can get all of them for only 20 dollars. Otherwise they are 5 dollars each.

I'm really not fond of computer copies and printouts of artwork. So for now I've decided to create the cards by hand. Yes, I know it's a little daunting, but it helps me to stay creative by constantly having to physically ink and color stuff. It will keep me in creative shape. I'm sure after a while I'll get tired of them and make digital copies of them instead, but until then I'd rather do it the old fashioned way. I mean, why would you want to pay 5 dollars for a computer printout? Ha, posters don't count.

Anyway, the five cards are the first in the Line of Hipster Girl series. I got the idea from one picture I drew last year, I think. And the idea was about a girl who looks like a big cross between gothic lolita/geisha and to include hipster fads like owls and strawberries and deer. Or a cracked out doll, hehe. But I think they have turned out pretty well and I can't wait to see what sort of response I get. Here are the pictures from the cards I'm selling so far:

New Layout, yaaaaay!

Okay so I've deleted my animation news blog and decided that if any juicy news comes up, then I'll post it here. Too bad though, because I thought 'animation for your consideration' was an excellent title. But one blog is far easier to maintain. The new layout design will have to make up for a june post, although I may be able to squeeze in one more entry before the end of the month. The new layout looks pretty good if I do say so myself!

Happy Cactus!

I have no idea why this girl has a banana in her pocket. ^^^ Just lucky, I guess? The girl with the handbag is channeling kirsten ulve.

First post! *smashes bottle against the ship*

So I've decided to jump on the bandwagon and start posting some sketches like everybody else. I figure it will be a good exercise to actively post at least two times a month and it will encourage me to draw even more frequently. Mostly it will be quick doodles- stuff that isn't good enough for the website and drawn under 30 minutes w/cheap mediums.

And of course here is the mandatory disclaimer that all artwork posted on this blog belongs to me and no, you cannot use it without my permission- even if you do have the best of intentions. :) Naturally if you do I will hunt you down and you will cower before me in utter fear.
